The study will identify possible horizontal and vertical curve corrections, roadway realignment and widening and other safety improvements at key locations. Specifically, roadway improvements are recommended for the Palo Flechado Pass area, the NM 434/US 64 intersection, the Country Club Road (Veterans Memorial)/US 64 intersection and the NM 38/US 64 intersection. Residents, landowners, business owners and all interested parties are encouraged to review the online presentation and provide input on alternatives considered at key locations along with comments regarding bicycle, pedestrian and other issues.
Since we are unable to hold in-person public meetings, we are asking for your participation by reviewing the presentation below. Additional proposed improvements include new approach pavement and roadside barrier. This structure is a 23-foot long single span cast-in-place concrete bridge built in 1923 and widened in the 1980s. The bridge is in need of replacement due to age, poor condition, and low load ratings. Several bridge alternatives were evaluated. The selected bridge alternative will involve replacement on the existing alignment, leaving the existing concrete abutments with drilled shafts set behind, placement of a single span, pre-cast concrete slab bridge, and closure of the roadway during demolition and construction. Bridge Demolition and Construction will require FULL ROADWAY CLOSURE for 7 Weeks. An 18-mile DETOUR ROUTE from Bridge 397 to the Glorieta/I-25 interchange would utilize NM 50, NM 63, and the Rowe/I-25 interchange. The entire project is within the boundaries of the Glorieta Pass Battlefield National Historic Landmark.
Because we were unable to hold in-person public meetings, we are asking for your participation by reviewing the project materials provided below. We would prefer submittal of comments electronically due to our teleworking situation. If you have questions or are unable to access these resources, please contact Dana Garcia
